Foli

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Your photos, your notes, and what you choose to share.

What can Foli access?

You never need to provide your Apple password or verification codes. Photos reads only the public shared album you submit. For Notes, Foli's backend service reads the folder you share with notes@foli.cc, not your unshared photos or notes.

Use a separate album or folder for publishing: anything in it may be read.

Does generating a preview make my content public?

No. Foli previews and drafts are private. Your site becomes public only when you choose to publish it.

Photos does require Apple's Public Website setting. Anyone with that album link can view the album directly, even before you publish on Foli.

Will my site update when I change my photos or notes?

Yes. Photos reads the album from Apple when a visitor opens the page. Foli's backend service syncs Notes periodically. Apple sync delays can hold up updates; check My sites for the current status.

Notes previews show up to two notes. Saving or publishing starts a full sync.

Does Foli keep my photos and notes?

Photos and videos stay with Apple. Foli keeps the link and settings needed for your Photos site. For Notes, Foli stores synced content to display your site.

Unsaved Notes previews expire after 24 hours and are then cleaned up automatically. Content saved as a site is kept; unpublishing does not delete it.

How do I stop sharing?

First, unpublish in My sites to stop public access to your Foli site. To stop Foli reading the source too, turn off Public Website for the album in Apple, or remove notes@foli.cc from the Notes folder.

Sharing changes can take time to reach Foli, so unpublish first rather than waiting for a permission check.

Will deleting my site delete the originals in Apple?

No. Deleting a site removes it and its synced content from Foli, not your original photos or notes in Apple. You can also delete your account and all its sites in account settings.

Apple sharing permissions must be turned off separately. Copies of public content that others have already saved cannot be taken back.
